👋 The quote above is the best one-liner a manager has ever said about me. I don't know all the answers, but I've always got questions. 😅

Combining my curiosity with thoughtful research, inclusive design, and clever technology, I've collaborated with bright minds to solve tough customer problems in various industries from the Fortune 500 to startups in incubation.

My favorite way to start a project is to discover the peculiar list of constraints that surround the problem domain. Like characters of a movie, I gradually learn through observation and interviews what drives our end users and their intentions. The overlap between these informs my design challenge and strategy.

I collaborate with stakeholders to keep what's feasible and valuable and remove what's not with a few alternatives. Testing early and often grounds my design direction towards what's usable because if it disagrees with experiment I know it's wrong. Together with my teammates, we build and launch the minimal viable experience and hold our breaths 🤭 like a quarterback on a fourth down throwing a hail mary. 🙌

No two projects are ever the same and these steps are not chronological, but each iteration gets us closer to the most valuable experience that meets business goals. As a designer, I live vicariously for this roller coaster! 🤩 🎢

In my spare time, I am an advocate for accessible, inclusive, and ethical human-centered design. That includes free and open source software, net neutrality, and digital rights.

I appreciate the importance of a healthy work/life balance, so when I am not online you'll find me with family and friends getting humbled on the jiujitsu mats, hiking, or flying aircrafts. 😋
